steamer turned rubber glass seals white after removing tint.
not sure what the door glass seals are made of, but after steam removing tint, the seals turned white. possible to restore the black color? Car is old. Maybe I should have masked the seals with foil or used silicone lubricant on them before steaming so close? -

after tint was already installed, how would I know if the installer actually xpel XR Plus, instead of just regular XR?
oh wow... funny you should mention the blue. I was just about to ask to see if it was normal for the XR Plus to look somewhat blue. When I'm driving, I obviously can't stare at the window... but today I let someone else drive while I sat in the passenger seat. That's when I noticed this gray/blue-ish color in the tint film. I just figured that the blue color came from the original factory glass... So this is normal for this film? Thanks! -

does tint become hazy with old age? 20 years old
Perhaps. I had a 2004 Holden Commodore come in a few weeks ago that I'd tinted when it was new. Someone had broken into the car and a door glass had been replaced. I was surprised that the old film looked very much the same as the new. And this is why I mainly use Llumar. I've had similar instances with their flat glass films too. -

Hell of a run. Some might say a hall of fame worthy run. -

And 20 years is a pretty good run for any automotive film these days -

XR Plus has a blue hue that is more noticeable than XR Black. It is more noticeable in 35% or lighter shades and lessens as the film gets darker. -

If the film looks milky, it is likely the polyester is breaking down. If it is blurry, that is likely the adhesive is breaking down. Either way it is time to replace the film.
