Solar Gard Drying Problem

Recommended Posts

Working in a bldg we've worked in a bunch of times before without film problems.  There was existing film (don't know what it was or when installed) we scraped and then installed the solar bronze 20, which the bldg wants.  It goes on fine and then develops a pattern of small bubbles which are not drying, or taking forever to dry.  Has happened now with film from different rolls.  Have squeeged extra times, extra hard and tried installing with different solutions.  Was recommended to try distilled water with a little rubbing alcohol and little soap.  Still having problems no matter what we try.

Have run out of answers.  Related to the old film on the glass?  Anything we can try to treat the glass before installing new film?

More slip will prevent water from trapping in the film when you squeegee. Then you can make passes with a security film squeegee. Like a thors hammer. We have to do it with our precious metal films like Hilite, SECH, and DREI.

You've never experienced long dry out times with Bronze film?

not like this

Perfect storm aka adhesive residue in the pores of the glass and a known slow dry film.

Polish the glass! Zaino Brothers Z-12 or equivalent.

thanks - was wondering whether extra glass treatment would make a difference.

Don't know if I can charge for it but won't try installing any more film in this bldg without testing one with a Z-12 polish first.

Who actually polishes glass and charges for it?

Those who are at their wits end and still want to deliver.  :lol No charge can replace peace of mind.  :thumb
