Throwing it out there...

Any tinters on Eastern Long Island that wouldn't mind showing a rookie a thing or two??
I have done a handful of different types of vehicles and some go soooo much smoother than others.
Had a very discouraging day yesterday and would like to see how some other tinters are doing it out there.
Being self taught from youtube and with a lot of help from the friendly Tintduders I am managing, but I would like to see and talk to someone in person!

Thanks in advance.
Mike

Guess I'll toss it back in...

Depending on who supplies your product they may have a rep that travels various regions. Check there first since another shop might feel threatened even if 100 miles away or they may not have the time to glad-hand a fresh start up 100 miles away. I too am self-taught but, I was also a natural and the skills and quality came more quickly compared to many. It still wasn't enough for a start up, even in 1982. I worked part-time at ServiceMaster office cleaning for two years before I could say adios because tint biz was now self-supportive.

I do know LLumar has tech reps with installation backgrounds that could help however, they're schedules are generally booked out weeks in advance and insanely micro-managed. If you appear as a small fry to them, any visit will have to be squeezed when passing through the region (I know this routine and is why I am now, semi-retired and safe at home posting this).

Thanks Smartie.

Small fry at best. Have only been tinting for a short period of time. I am a perfectionist though and hate not being able to complete a job up to the standard I would want on my vehicle. I work full time as well, 60 hrs a week as a sales rep and do windows on the side.

Any schools worth taking a look at?

Stan fosters dvd collection would be a great way to start. He's up here under flat rock Stan. Hopefully he will chime in but if not you could message him.

Have a hands on class in Saint Louis the 4th of April! Then I have dvd learning that has helped many many people. Give the office here in Oregon a call for details...503 671 9615 ask for Alexia. Global film gives a ten percent discount on film purchased till you recoup cost of training.

Cheers
