whats up guys how have u all been?

i havent been on here for a little bit but i do check back every now and then and i still tint alot.  i would like to see what ur guys opinions are on this unique situation i have here....

one of my best tint customers had a car club friend of his come over to wrap his car.  and the guy got a few of the easy flat panels and couldnt do curves.  this guy lives 3 hours away and didnt finish the car.....

now my friend asked me to come see if i could offer any pointers or fix the messed up spot of the entire quarterpanel

i do lots of tint favors for him and offer him a lower rate than anyone and he is a nice person not like some people

i went today and FIXED the vinyl wrap on the quarterpanel for him....i got all the wrinkles out and everything....i wasnt even gonna charge him just to get him past the hard point.....then he asked me to finish the edges completely and trim it.....so i did that on about HALF the quarter panel. now he wants me to finish the entire panel and do the whole rest of the car......

i dont wanna do this damn car....this is a project car and i know he doesnt wanna pay decent money to finish it.....i dont want to get all this unexpected time wrapped up in this job....id like to help but i would rather the other guy do what he can and if i have to fix a spot or two id rather do that for NOTHING than be responsible for this whole car

so angry right now

just wanna explain to others who might understand

any opinions?

i already presented the idea of the other guy doing what he can and ill try to fix any other spots and he just wants me to do it......this is exactly what i didnt want to happen

i feel bad because he knows that i know this is his project..and he did pay me to tint it.....and i dont like to leave someone hanging but i did not sign up for this vinyl wrap......and i dont believe in turning down work. but i dont have time to do this....

i would even REFER this to another member on here....but like i said....i know the low rate the other guy agreed to do it for and ended up couldnt do it.

Just tell him you've offered all the free advice you can. If he needs any further assistance then you're going to have to charge him.

Tell him tho you like him and the work that you would much rather pass on this job-nothing to do with the vech. But its just not what you are up to now. But sometimes these kind of jobs end up as a pain. If it was me id just do it what's worth more then a happy custumer or two. It will pay off in the long run-

Sometimes the most expensive life lessons and troublesome projects come from "trying to help ".

I agree with JH . Tell him you have done what you can "for free" but you cannot run a business helping people for "fun" or being a nice guy.

If he wants your top notch install then he is gonna have to suck it up and pay.

i know what u mean shadebyblade i completely understand that and believe in that.  i just wonder if i woulda been better off in the first place by saying no.....now that i went over there and fixed it he wants me to finish it......

i do have a picture i could post of how the last guy left it sitting and drove 3 hours home

Bottom line explain to the guy that you were just trying to help him out a little and you can't do the rest for free. If he gets upset and doesn't come back to you he wasn't much of a customer anyway.

Like I said what a Pa in. Iwould make him come to you for one. Sometimes when its a little harder for them to get it done they wont . Here's hoping for it to just go down the road. If I was out there I would help you get him off your back.
