To answer the question yes you can. You'll just need to connect those two hoses together. Do it all the time.

Just look up bypass heater core.

I would check your radiator hoses first if they are real soft I'd replace them

To check the heater core if it's not leaking take the heater hoses loose then take a garden hose and flush to see if it's clogged

Alright.. Hopefully it's not the core... but in the event that it does go after we're done with the cold weather... if I can put it off until the summer when I have more cash that would be better.
