-About the REFLECTIVE FILM-

The problem is I have 2 type of film bought in different shop they both mention it is from USA but I know something fishy and I just lately determine there is thicker film and thinner film. Color almost similar but still see the difference.

I'm confuse about this 2 type of film. Is Reflective film made in USA thicker than Korea film?

(Thicker is 2 ply film and thinner is about 1 ply film)

Of cause I saw the other shop selling USA cheaper so I go with it but ends up 2 different type of film.

Will korea film turn into purple within 2 years?

the film thickness has nothing to do with where it is made. Thinner film is generally cheaper as there is less material in making it and also usually one less laminating step if it is a 1 ply versus 2 ply film....

Hi m0m0kia89,

It sounds like you are concerned with the color stability. He is what you need to know and ask about:

Is it Coated, Color Chip Extruded or "Dip Dyed"?

Coated: The color is in the adhesive (mounting or laminating)

Color Chip Extruded The chips are dyed prior to extrusion into polyester film / sheeting

Dip Dyed (Liquid Bath) This is the Gold Standard. Color Stable films like Llumar & Global are made this way. They are more expensive, but probably worth it.

Also - Do not necessarily equate thickness with quality. A quality dip-dyed 1Mil/1Ply will outlast a coated 1.5Mil/2Ply (all other factors being equal).

They make film in different thickness also because every tinter has a different feel for each film...Some like thick some like thin....To each is own...I prefer Thicker films like most of us do...I have used thinner but I feel that thinner films act like 3m films, not user friendly and easier to mess up shrinking/installing....:twocents
