Using a Jiffy steamer for removing vinyl

Since I deal only with tint , forgive a perhaps obvious answer to this question to vinyl installers.

When removing old graphics from cars , boats etc. I've only seen it done with a heatgun and thinners . Is that the best method or do jiffy steamers work as well, better or worse ?

Yeah it put moisture back into the vinyl while warming it at the same time.

We have played with steam a few times. Depending on the time you have on site good old bagging it works good too.

Lidco has the Big blade remover tool for picking the edges without damaging substrate.

We use the steamer for removal and install.

The condition of the vinyl will determine whether steam will help or hinder the process.

If it's too old and all cracked up, the steamer won't really help.

Back in my vinyl and pin striping days. I have removed stripes with a fresh 1 inch razor. But you gotta be careful.

If you rub the razor blade onto glass, as if you were scraping it clean.

It will roll the edges of the blade up away from the surface, enough to where it will not catch as easily when using it on a painted surface.

Allowing you to remove stripes and narrow vinyl with ease...

Steamer does help too though..
