When I get those I try to "upsell " to 50". I tell them its the same price for 50 " as 48" because they are paying for the 50" rolls of film anyway. If it goes on their glass or my next customers vision strip project its up to them.

Most go for keeping the film they are paying for. I get to blast out the project faster. :money

I recently did a project that an architect spec'd 54" of film that was 48" or 60". I showed him on the glass that 60" worked better and would center better in the sidelights and doors due to his spec'd top height and gave more privacy. He loved it and will be spec'ing 60" bands when needed now!!

I totally agree with you, I run into situations like this all the time, with all the different deco films out now and so many of them available in different and limited sizes most architect's do not consider this in the design.

This was a job that my competitor installed the same film on the first floor for the company that installed the glass office fronts, so I had to go with the 48" band pn 2nd floor that was now established and I charged them for removing the 2", when I was at the job site I looked at the first floor film install, it was bad lots of contamination and the film was not even from one window to the next,

The AFF" spec on the blue prints on this job was 74 15/16" ...... :blink

I used to do a lot of work for the company that installs the office fronts, but like most they will go for a lower price and find out you get what you pay for.

I will now get 3rd floor next.......... :D

Couldn't you slit it on a FH or have the roll slit from your distributor?

I cut the 2" off with a 2" wide aluminum ruler after I pre-cut the film for each size window at the shop.

Not a good idea to have this film cut down from the distributor.... :trustme
