I don't know that I actually prefer one of the other. I love the speed and lack of waste with using my plotter but when it comes to a perfect pattern I've gotta do it by hand.

I've never used a plotter so I can't say I dont like them, I have always hand cut and feel like I get a perfect cut/pattern that way just like yourself Blade.....And you still have to cut on the back glass right after you shrink it out, Or am I wrong???

Ditto! Although, I will say as a business owner, the plotter is much more efficient and time is money! I can be cleaning windows or dealing with a customer while the plotter does its job! So it is faster!

I have been using a plotter for 13 years now and I can hand cut just as good as the best of them but I have never had a single customer say anything about the cuts that the plotter makes. If you really think about it the plotter patterns are really hand cut as well.

I have used both, (used to supply Tint-Tek with Euro patterns) but prefer to hand cut. Most patterns I have used are more suited to panel pullers, I prefer to tuck so need them slightly shorter. I'm fairly confident that by the time you have warmed the computer up, selected the program, entered all the info in, set up the plotter, aligned the film, cut it, & weed it...I will have most of the car finished.Anybody fancy a challenge... :thumb

I think you will get a skewed outcome with this poll. As with TTC and Blade, I am the same. I have gotten so spoiled using the plotter. Before having a plotter, I would have voted for hand cutting as a preference, but I cant after 6 years using a plotter. There is no doubt a hand cut pattern for the doors will be better, but only because the glass for vehicles can vary slightly, as aftermarket glass tends to be a little off. As for a back glass, a plotter will be better than any hand cutting for most back glass's, only because of the speed a plotter does it, and having no visible edge showing.

you're wrong....that's where I love the plotter more than anywhere else. not have to deal with lights and leaning over cutting. once you shrink it you can install it without cutting. sometimes I will fine-tune the cuts....like around defroster connections, but for the most part just slap it up.
