Madico Charcool, 3M Color Stable, Pinnacle Formula One, 3M Crystalline

Hi guys,

I was debating on what tint to get and from all my research, I was leaning towards the Madico Charcool versus 3M Color Stable because of the reasonable price versus performance and what I have read about 3M quality. However, after reading some of the postings here, especially recently, it seems like the quality of Madico has gone down, is that right? That kind of leaves me with Pinnacle Formula One, but that is 200 dollars more, do you guys think it is worth it? And even though 3M is much maligned, is their Crystalline good enough to over-come that reputation and make it worthwhile if priced the same as Pinnacle Formula One?

Thanks in advance!

Hawaii007,

The quality of Madico films has not gone down, I would say its the best its ever been. I will be happy to send you a sample of the Charcool so you can work with the film and make your own decision about the film. If your interested, you can contact me directly at Bstewart@madico.com.

Thx

Bill

Since the merger I saw customer service go down...But you are talking about much different films man.... Charcool with mess with certain things cause it is a hybrid film...Meaning it has metal in it....

What do you want?? Do you want more heat blockage?? If so go with the pinnacle from F1 cause it is worth it!! A tint job that you are going to have for 5 8 years is worth it....I Tinted my moms camry 8 years ago and I did it in Charcool and it was fine till the day she sold it...it just didnt block as much heat..I did 35% all around...The Crystalline is a good film too but its hard to use....The F1 and Crystalline are both signal enabling and heat blocking films...

Depending on what you want IDK, but if it was me I would go with F1....you might get a better job with the F1 maybe IDK there are a lot of us that are good/great tinters that dont use F1 cause it is so damn expensive and what not....But F1 dealers are very Professional from what I have seen....:twocents

We've used the F1 Pinnacle and Classic (color-stable dyed) for many years. Our customers are happy! We're happy! (Yeah, the Pinnacle is a bit pricey.)

Pinnacle is super nice.

friend had 3m CS on his last car, I did the Llumar CTX on his new one. They show the same heat rejection numbers, but he said the CTX blocked noticeably more heat. Pinnacle is every bit as good as CTX and probably a bit better on the performance side of things. That is the way I would lean if I had the money. I don't have the money, so I just own a tint shop instead, haha.

What??!? They have the same TSER number but one feels like it blocks more heat than the other? Say it ain't so :DD

Sarcasm off. I'm kinda blending this with another thread. My point is, TSER isn't the ultimate answer to heat blockage...

Let's use the proper term "energy" rather than "heat"... now please explain bama. Afterall, window film is a filter not an airconditioner...

If this a car you really care about having a quality product on, go with the Formula One. They don't sell F1 to any jamoke with a squeegee and will in all likelihood be a reputable dealer. So if in the future you have any issues, they will be there to address them.

No, because light it also energy and I don't care about blocking light. This is exactly my point. I'm asking, can a film have a higher TSER because of what all it rejects, but not actually block as much HEAT?

CharCOOL contains no metal in it, and is not a hybrid film. It is the same film as Charcoal but with another layer added to it to bring it to color stable.

I have also noticed the lack of customer service and support with the merger. I'll credit Bill with a phone call, but nothing has improved, and I dont believe for a second that CharCOOL is better than before. First off, the color is different from the original, which may be a good thing. Second, the film now has an orange peel look to it every other roll I got. Lastly, I have noticed the film start to fail within a year and a half, which could have just been a bad roll...who knows. You also get a super cool SunGard box with your Madico film inside, what a joke!

Hell, Ron Jones left Madico to go to Huper! I had a bitchin time with him, partied with him until 4:30am one night at a dealer meeting, and he genuinely expressed his love for Madico films, but this was 4 years ago...what happened?

This is coming from the biggest Madico horn tooter. Ive been told by people that Madico reads my posts here. Fine, read them. You guys are gonna lose your edge you may have developed in the past. SunGard failed multiple times and you guys think that people want to buy Madico in a SunGard box?? HA!

Go with the F1.
