How you Prep a Window?

Since we have been on the Contamination Topic more often right now how does everyone prep the windows before applying the film???

Well one main thing I do before bringing the car In is either spray down with water or wash....after cutting patterns....Than I look over for any glue or sticker left over and use a razor blade to scrape that off, I dont razor blade the whole window due to scratching one, one time...Than I spray the window down rub with low lint Towel, Squeegee off water, Re spray, hard card gaskets and flush, Than squeegee off whole window role down and clean the top of the window along with the top edge and squeegee once again with another flush...And the window for me is ready to go?

Is it my OCD?? or am I doing to much?? My installs are pretty good 5 - 15 specs + / - sometimes...

without seeing you clean one, I think I do about half of what you are doing. I try to use less and less water because it seems to just make jobs dirtier...But my cleaning is always based on weather outside, how dirty the car is, how old etc. new cars I barely clean, older cars I tape, cars that have kids/dogs etc I use glass cleaner first, then clean like normal...one of the best things I do is spray the car down before it comes into my shop, knocks the dust and static down imo from the actual car. Our installs are really clean in comparision to our competetion, and most of the time I am happy with the jobs unless the car is 13 years old and a construction truck...god I hate those...

I spray down the outside very quick, clean it off, check for stickers on the inside...do all my cutting, shrinking, etc. Then over to the clean peel board with the pattern..trim. Tape if necessary, spray window, clean with pink sponge, flush sides and scrape down the gasket with Olfa. Flush and spray window, squeegee with blue max in one direction then squeegee down gasket with conquerer. I usually don't spray down the window again, I've heard and learned that it can attract dust easier. I use a little soapier solution for application.. DONE. I have very minimal contamination, very rarely a "cluster" and I never touch the film.

Roll the window down. Spray glass cleaner on the gaskets hard card em to clean. Roll it up all the way. Spray window and razor it. Roll it down a bit and razor what you missed then wipe top of glass and sides with blue towel. Spray again with solution. Sqeegee with channel. Wipe sides and top again. Now your ready...

With window up...spray, flush/clean sides, and scrub. Then I spray again, squeegee, flush sides and wipe clean.

Oh yea, after I squeegee the top edge. I wipe the top edge and come down the side a couple inches. This prevents contamination in the top corner.
