New To The Tint World Looking For Direction

Hi all, I’m a newbie around these parts as far as tinting goes. I’ve dabbled with it a bit over the past few years and seem to have a bit of a knack for it. I’ve spent a few years working in a body shop so I know my way around vehicles. I feel as though I have a lot to offer as far as customer service and relations go. I’m about two years into my bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology at a university in Arkansas but travel back and forth from the middle of the state quite often. I was turned onto mobile window tinting a while back and have heard of people doing it with great success. However, all of that being said, I feel that in order to offer service that will compete with bigger names that the quality of my tint and the warranty I can offer must be somewhat comparable. My question is where do I start as far as buying tint for a small business like this? I believe I can generate the customers but obtaining the supplies ha me at a bit of a delay. Also I have been doing quite a bit of research on resident tinting. Would this be worth investigating further? I’d appreciate any input from you seasoned tinter on here! Thanks and Happy Tinting!

:welcome It is harder than you think...But if you want decent film that you can stand behind that comes in cheaper prices all the way to higher prices Express Window Films is the place you need to check out.. True Black NR series and also the Classic Black Series...But any of the films will be great for you...Don't get a ceramic yet they are harder to shrink....But those two lines or the smoked series will be great for you...I have used the True Black myself just a little and its a great film shrinks real easy and decent price...There will be other people too that will tell you the same thing..Read the Window Inventory section man about express....

I agree with checking out Express for film and Zola for tools, then do it every day for a year or so and you will start to get the hang of it. Might want to check out a class like Stan's at autowindowtinting.com for some help or DVD's. :thumb :thumb

def check out autowindowtinting.com

do some buddies cars, family's cars etc before you try a "real" customer...a lot of us here are still learning and still getting better everyday :)

Res is a lot of foot traffic, bids, customer babysitting, insurance etc. worth the investment if you are planning on really investing a lot of time and energy. You will notice around here most of us start on cars but then evolve into flat glass work as we perfect our art. It is harder than it looks, but rewarding.

Welcome to the forum, good ppl here.
