Hello Folks,

I am looking for a software that can calculate the strenght and other physical factors of a glass applied with security film. This is mainly for architectural purpose. In the market, there are already many software that assist the architect or structural engineer determine the correct type and size of glazing materials to use in a building, but not one for film+glass.

Hope for some pointers on this. Thank you, guys.

Joe.

Not sure this is the answer you are looking for, but there are many codes already set based on certain standards to help guide you towards the right product and application. GSA standards, ASTM standards etc...

Can you perhaps elaborate on what your desired end goal is?

Hello Tim,

Thanks for your reply.

My objective is to determine the strengthing effect of a safety film on an existing glass configuration?

Eg. 3M 6mil film on a 10mm Annealed glass.

I am not sure if this is exactly what your looking for but I believe there is a meter that reads glass over all strength. Its like 7-800.00 for it though as far as a program I havent the slightest. that would probably be something glass manufacturers would have the answer to.

Glass has inherent strength all its own and cannot be strengthened by aftermarket products.

Safety film merely provides resistance to break and the means of retaining fragments in the event of breakage; it does not strengthen the glass panel.

Resistance = an opposing or retarding force
