I'm a newbie tinting for about a year now. I find myself pulling out weather stripping whenever possible to from getting felt in the film. Do you guys do the same or is this just a ”rookie move ”?

Some people find they can consistently do clean work leaving them in and some people find removing them to be the only option. There's no right answer it's about how you feel most comfortable. Some cars you can't take them out so it doesn't hurt to be familiar doing it both ways.

Funny story, I am not going to say the person's name as to who this is, but I know a tint trainer who has tinted for over 20 years claiming that the work is "perfect" when leaving seals in no matter what the car ( old Taurus , bottom seals of rangers, etc) ..it's all in the technique. I had the opportunity to see this work in real life demonstrated to me and not just take thier "Internet word " for it. Needless to say, I still remove certain seals on certain cars to avoid contamination or unnecessary creases based on inspecting thier do called perfect work.

My opinion, it's not a rookie move until I actually see certain cars done with my own two eyes that it can be done to the level of workmanship that I want to see leave the shop.

Hey, I'm the first person that loves to save any time I can on an install but not at any form of sacrifice of quality of workmanship. It's just too competitive of a business to do so. This is just an opinion and am not saying that it can't be done, only saying that I personally haven't seen it yet. :DD

very well said TW. I pull 90% of door panels myself. And after 17 years I have yet to tint the perfect window. I have gotten very close, I perfer to call my work near flawless.

Yes, I think "near flawless " is a more accurate type of wording. I feel the word "perfect" is a word that tends to be a little overused in this industry :lol
