5% or 20% - NOT in USA

I know this topic has probably been beat to death but I think my situation is different, so please read on before going on about state laws.

I'm getting a vehicle ready to take to Haiti. from what I've read for security reasons in many non-1st-world countries such as Haiti, people get two things as mandatory for their vehicles, 1. Air conditioning - I'm installing this since it's an older vehicle and currently doesn't have it. 2. Very dark tint.

Reasoning is that people are more hesitant to mess with a vehicle when they don't know haw many people are inside - AC allows the tinted windows to stay rolled up.

Bonus: The tint should also help the vehicle stay cooler and take a slight load off the AC.

NOTE: I have also been told NOT to drive at night - if it's possible to avoid driving at night then do everything you can to avoid driving at night. But the reality is that every once in a long long while I won't be able to avoid it. (by this I mean a few times per year)

Once again, I'm not going dark to look cool, be a rebel, break the law (no tint laws I'm aware of in Haiti), etc, but I'm doing this for the security of the people in my vehicle. I'm also trying to build this vehicle so it doesn't stand out as an attractive target for people with less than positive intentions.

So now for my question:

1. Should I go for:

A1. 5% on all side and back windows

B1. 5% on rear and back and 20% on front side windows?

2. How dark should I tint the windshield?

A2. 50%

B2. 35%

C2. 20%

What would you choose and why?

I'd be happy to answer questions, although I may not know some answers.

Thanks,

Rollinns

I'd do 5% behind the B pillar, 20% on the front and 35% on the windshield.

The 5% will help hide the fact that you may be alone. 20% on the front will offer you a little more visibility and the 35% on the windshield to give you better visibility for those occasional night drives. :twocents

Stan - it's a FJ60 (1980's) Landcruiser.

Thanks for all your input, I'm leaning heavily toward 35% on the windshield, 20% on the front doors and 5% on the rest.

from experience with dealers who wholesale the islands (except hawaii) they all want 5% all the way around and atleast a 10 inch strip, full windshield with strip more money, no laws regarding window tint vlt. up until 2010, if someone would correct me, cool
