I tint for a Nissan dealership, when the cars come off the haulers, I tint every single car/truck before they go on the lot... I have also tinted all makes and models at my garage at home for 6-7 years with no real problems.. what I am wondering does anyone know of a advance course, maybe a 1 or 2 day class.. if I got a call for a corvette I would be lost... I have done 1 vw beetle and had to 2 piece the back window, which I kinda winged it.. I was taught to do 1 piece when I first was taught... ( mostly from reading TD and trial and error, thank god the dealership I tinted for at the time paid for the tint).. I want to get on my own and quit the dealership ( never gonna get rich and take over the world working for someone else ) I'm sure I need to be brought up to date with all the new techniques, films and vehicles, etc... any advice to keep me out of the classes with ppl who have never picked up a olfa or blue max so im not bored to death until the last day... thanks.<br />

Advanced methods are generally shared in basic training and or separately through social media, visiting other shops or through distributor annual dealer get togethers and these are not necessarily listed in order of availability.

The issue I see with visiting another tinter is that you learn their tricks, good or bad and isn't represenetative of all possibilities or tricks. The best of all listed would be the annual dealer seminars, whether distributor sponsored or IWFA sponsered; these venues give access to a mutitude of approaches and tricks.

The issue I see with this is people that know how to talk about tintting but don't actually tint day in and day out in the real world.

As far as the whole good and bad habit and goes, all you have to do is show a few different cars with your final workmanship for the potential student to "eye hump " . If it looks like the desired and inspired tinter that that person wants to become, you got yourself a mentor .

I'm not slamming any particular company in teaching per se , just as there would be good experienced tinters that make bad teachers as well as good ones.

One would have to do his homework of course before choosing :thumb

I try and visit other shops when Im out of my area.

I've made friends in TX, WI, MI, CA, & KY

I'm surprised at the amount of installers that don't talk to others.

I should have found a shop in Ontario, but there where none on Lake Huron. And was too bizzy trying to stay out of cel phone range.

True, but not for those who have an innate ability to understand a concept without performing it and have the skill to pass it on like they've been doing it all along (naturals). An example is my father can successfully teach anyone how to swim yet he himself is unable to swim.

Most of the best tinter are here in the forum. All you really need to know is all here. Even the hard cars, members here explain step by step. This is the best class by far for Advanced tinting school. (type of film, type of car, even type of glass) Tintdude.com knows it all.

If you are worried about harder cars then either get some in to tint and figure it out or price them higher so that you either don't have to tint them or you have some wiggle room in the time you take and can waste both time and film on them.....

I personally price vettes high enough that I don't normally have to do one.....bugs I just simply kill in 2 pieces and send them out. I started doing tint without a heat gun though and can hide a seam on a window very well.....
