Large Jobs - Do You Get A Deposit?

By large I mean a job which is going to take a month or more of pretty steady work.

What do others do for large projects? And if you get a deposit, what is a typical percentage?

the only way you normally get a deposit on jobs that big is if you sell them out right, and ask for it up front.

Most big job's in which you bid on you will have to back yourself. If you can't cover the cost. That is what credit cards and banks are for.

It all depends on the custy. Large projects, you must specify deposit in your bid or your SOL. One time large retail customers - 50% deposit required, balance on terms.

99.9% of the time we get a PO. Then if we get paid sometime in the next 90 days it is a bonus

Deposit might be tough in some cases, a contract that outlines payment, terms and other important factors tied into large bids would be a wise move.

I get a 40% deposit. At least that way you know the customer is serious. It is in the contract and I tell them up front.
