Hello All,

As I Troll around this forum I am finding that a common theme seems to be "Look Past the Brand!" :D With that mentality in mind, a local tint shop is offering tint by 3M ,. Viper, and a generic no name film. I have eliminate the no name film from the running as no warranty is offered with this film. The price difference Is about 50$. I am finding alot of 3M hate on this forum and no info regarding VIPER security film. Anyone have any quick advice? I am getting my tint in 2 hours.-AT

Is the Viper film a security film or a standard window film?

A security film really worries me in terms of what happens if an end user is in an accident, there is a risk of them being unable to exit the vehicle through the broken glass.

My other concern is that Viper has been selling window film for just over five months they are also known for picking up complimentary products to their alarm lineup only to dissolve that partnership after sales fail to reach desired levels. This has happened with A/V products and Sirius Radio, that could leave the end user in a spot when it comes to a warranty claim in the future.

Focus more on the shop installing the film than the film they're installing. Chances are if they're a good, well run operation that's been around the block and takes care of their customers, they'll use decent product and stand behind it.

From what I have read on here, its LLumar or Global by a longshot . I like madico's Charcool too . Its a pretty tough film . Viper is re boxed film from one of the big mannys . Few have actual production capabilities

Ok so I found out the generic is "Sun Tek". Pricing is as follows:

SunTek=$---

Viper=$---

3M=$---

I really don't care about price, I just want the best quality product that i can out of the three. anyone have any input on the topic? As far as the shop is concerned, I called around to several window install and detail places and most places seem to just outsource to this guy anyways I i figured I would cut out the middle man. His work looks pretty clean from a friend of mines car he did.

None of the above ? At that price for Suntek , it is probably the standard series , and it will fade out pretty fast . I would find a shop in your area that sells either LLumar, Madico , Solargard, etc. Viper has not been around long enough to know how its gonna hold up , and one of the 3 I just stated makes their film anyway. Go with a brand that has been around a while , and more importantly, I would go with a shop that specializes in window film , versus a stereo shop or detail shop that subs all their work . Their is a shop finder on here , so you could find someone in your area for sure. 3M might be a good choice depending on which film it is .

Good shops typically carry good quality films and stand behind their work.

So I went with the 3M (carbon). It looks good but there are quite a few small bubbles (only been 12 hours). Any suggestions on how long I should wait to put the window down? I was planning on waiting about min 48 hours per the shop owners suggestion.-AT

Do what the shop told you as far as rolling the windows down. The bubbles should go away within 2 weeks, Probably quicker if the weather is hot where you live
