I am in SW Louisiana and looking to tint my home windows to save on electric bill I have 175 sqft to cover. I have been given 2 quotes but want to get the right product instead of the cheapest price.

Options now are solar gard not sure what specifically was quoted but 35%, and llumar DR-35 SR CDF in gray. I have dual pane windows with the French panes inside the glass most are 36x72. I read about the ceramic technology but not sure if that is best in the home installations, and is it worth the extra money?

Thanks in advance

Solar Gard has MANY different lines. It would be hard to compare something we don't know about. You will have to look at the numbers to see what you are looking for. Both have good lines. :lol

i was comparing numbers with the Vista v40 and it seems like the DR35 has better numbers overall. why pay for vista?

so should i just forget about the ceramic?

The DR and Solar Gard film is reflective from the exterior view. If you are OK with that than pick your favorite. If you prefer a non reflective appearance that the ceramic films would be your best choice.

it's a happy medium for a bit of privacy, not too reflective, great price point, decent heat rejection, clean clear look, decent glare reduction. That film will last...

i have just started using huper optic films within the last year or so and i really like the ceramic lines...nice neutral look with superior heat rejection. there are some really good looking films made by suntek like the infinity bronze film which i love...but of coarse you must co in acordance with the color of your house before deciding that.

DR- 35, or Solargard's true view 40 are similar, as well as Madico's DG 35. IF your looking for faster payback, and you can live with some interior reflection and a darker view, check out some darker films like DR-25 or even DR-15. Ceramic is nice, for great clarity, but you need to decide if its worth it to you, and dont be afraid to haggle a little (politely) with the companies you are dealing with. I had too much Ceramic 40 a while back from a customer that backed out of a job, so i pushed it for a nice discount on another. Good luck and i hope whatever you pick your pleased with it.

In agreement about the bronze films. They look very neutral, and look great on certain homes . Two thumbs up snappy guy.

Thanks for all of your input. i have decided on the DR-35 for the front of the house and the DR-25 for the back of the house. Summers are hot here in south louisiana and the savings is more what i am after than the overall look. anything is better than solar screens right. I think it is a great price too for 175 sqft 960.00. will update after i get a few electric bills.
