I would like to know some cool network stuff though cause its the basis of making a home actually happen. Guest c5golfguy Posted September 7, 2010 Report Share Posted September 7, 2010 Once you get the server set up with an IP and/or DNS #'s, you should be able to get to your C prompt in your laptop and ping the machines IP and DNS IP. I would try and ping it from another computer off your network and that way you can see if its open to see before you set up your permissions to access the web sites you set up. I give the server an ip that it will always stay at. but how can I ping the computer from outside the network because that ip is only valid on that router....
