Elmer's Glue for Dot Matrix

I know that this topic has been addressed on this site. But I am looking for a solution as to what went wrong.

I tinted a 2009 BMW 335i rear window using the "glue method" as described on tintdude.com forum. I used the Elmers clear glue (http://www.amazon.com/Elmers-E305-Washable-Clear-School/dp/B001G9EBDG). It came out looking like the attached photo. What did I do wrong?

I used a white hard card wrapped in a paper towel, as described on the forum. I squeeged very hard to try and get all the glue out. Did I squeeged too hard? I did the driver and passenger side windows using the glue method and it came out fine, although there was some small spots that showed the clouding/hazy look. But I intentionally didn't squeege that hard on the side windows, after noticing the result on the back window. I went over the dot matrix on the side glass VERY lightly.

I am trying to get better and improve.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, especially from those who are sucessfully using the elmers glue to deal with the dot matrix.

You just need to leave more glue behind, don't push it out so hard.

:lol

the whole purpose is TO leave the glue there, so it fills in the air space. Pushing hard to "get the glue out" is a waste of time, and you might as well do nothing, since it would have the same result.

all you want to do is press lightly to smooth the glue out so that its even over the entire matrix area.

Thank you all very much for your responses. I will try this next time. r/Justin

Old thread 69, but you can likely still pull back if the glass is warm and apply glue.

Germstar, you can try that too now. :spit

since elmers is water based, I'm going to try something next. I'll mix up a small squirt bottle with a glue/water mix, and spray it on the dots. I have a hard time putting the right amount of glue right where I want it. I think a 50/50 mix or so would be perfect.

I use the Elmer's blue glue stick....cover the entire dot matrix area then squeegee out the access.
