3M dinoc CF vinyl

I was wondering if you apply 3M CF vinyl on the outside of a vehicle.... could it be clear coat?

We have used the Dinoc CF now on a number of projects including roofs, hoods, bikes, grilles, laptops, etc but as far as using a clear coat or film (PPF) over the vinyl to give the appearance of cleared CF...it does not work. It appears just black for the most part...it does not show the weave as you would see on a true cleared carbon fiber.

Whats the best place to get this stuff for non MMM users? I want to test some out on my personal vehicle before selling it. Ive seen carbonfiberfilms.com or whatever, but that seems more of a retail cost. also what size rolls can you get this media in?
