I knew it would hit the fan

Cops started "Operation Clearview" in Melbourne this week pulling over cars at random....started in Lygon Street Carlton.

Out of 55 tested in just a short period of time, something like 3/4's were slapped with unroadworthy certificates but no fines or demerit points were issued.

The car owners have to present their cars to Vicroads for inspection with either the film off or a lighter one installed.

Thanks to everyone who knowingly installs illegally....this has been on 3AW talkback radio constantly for the past week and the adverse publicity is not good.

hopefully you will get $ to retint to a lighter shade

put up a banner that says "we fix unroadworthy tint" :beer

I like that idea, might just put that out at my place,

lost 7 tint jobs last week because I refused to do the dark stuff, watched one go out of my driveway and right down the street and apparently they had no problems getting what they wanted,, they blew the horn when they drove back by me an hr later just to rub it in... I waved

Wonder if the Cops care about the shops that installed the stuff that was too dark ?

they do crack downs around here about 3 times a year,,, there's definitely a problem around this area after having to strip a pair of limo tinted doors today for a 61 yr old man,,, HE LOVED his dark stuff,,, this was his 5th ticket in 2 months, he had a deadline to have it fixed and missed that by a week, he Would Not let me remove the rest of the limo film on the rear.

I explained to him that his tint is To Dark to be on that car and he could still get another ticket for whats left on it... another day he replied

What the legal limit on the frontdoors there?

I use 38% on my bmw's just to make sure they comply, I wonder if some shops are unknowingly putting 35% over factory tinted glass and reading a 29% or under on the light meter?
