I am planning on getting my '03 Accord EX tinted (4 doors, rear windshield, and sun strip), but not sure which tint is the best. I went to a few shops, one uses Sun-gard (shadow I think), he only does tints has about 10yrs exp $[---], the others suntek( about same exp)$ [25% less ], global hp 6yrs exp $ [25% less], solargard (exp unknown but he worked for a dealer before, been at the shop for 6 months, said they do 400 tints a month) $[just under first price]... just wondering as to which tint is better? types/lines? All have lifetime warranty.

I live in Crown Point, IN if anyone knows any place to recommend.

1. Read the warranty fine print. Some lifetimes cover different things such as color change.

2. Look at their work, this is really important. The best film installed by the worst installer isn't going to leave an end user happy.

3. That year accord has a tough quarter window, ask each installer how they would address that window. Some leave big gaps/cut trim to fit the film better.

try not to shop by price alone. do some research on the company itself, online reviews, legit looking website. start with that and a reputable company should carry quality products.

+1 on the tough triangle windows also that car needs felt to be applied to the gaskets that rub against the window. if none of them brought that up id keep looking

thanks...I stopped by another place and asked about the felt, he said that it wasn't needed, that all cars are the same. Is it something specific for Accords?

Also as far as tints go, are sun-gard, soltek, global, and solar gard pretty much equal? All the prices were close, so I'd be willing to pay a little more for quality .

Thanks

^^ regardless of what or how it gets done some attention needs to be spent on the felt/scratching issue. :beer

it is something specific with accords for that generation, along with acura tl's some mustangs, lancers and a few others. google "accord felt scratching" and read up for yourself if the company has no idea what your talking about dont do business with them. I prefer solargard but their all fairly equal. keep in mind all these companies make entry level products usually with a 3-5 year warranty up to premium lifetime guaranteed products. solargard supreme or the global quick dry plus (QDP) are quality.

I simply indicate the issue to a custy at the point of sale, if they dont want the tint because of scratching weatherstrip, direct them to their car dealer who sold them the car.

They either come back with OEM felt lined or they get the tint done anyway knowing it'll need regular redo.

If they go elsewhere, okay too.

agreed,, there's only so much we can do with what they bring us to work on,,,,

pointing out the issue's right away helps, but we still get those that just don't have a clue!
