Any computer Gurus ?

No sound from the DVD player on the Laptop, but all the settings seem correct, had one guy who is knowledgeable about computers check it, all looks good.

So, why no sound ?

YouTube, etc play sound, just not the DVD player.

Yes, Audio CD'S play just fine, it is using Windows Media Player, the Top Gear DVD plays sound just fine on the home computer and the Wife's laptop, but no sound on my laptop !

Check to see if the program you are using to run the DVD has audio and/or mute settings. it might not be obvious and will mess you up for that. Also see if windows media will play the dvd with sound.

Yes, it plays the video just fine, but no sound, not sure where to look for the settings you are referring to.

usually when the menu comes up with the controls, there should be a slider bar or a speaker on there. Since the sound isolation is limited to playing the DVD, it makes me think it is that program that is muting the sound.

Make sure you have all the updates for the DVD software. Download the software, unistall what you have then reinstall the download.
