some detail of my process

ok first off I dont have a peel board, I do this in my garage (painted floor, fairly clean), so im peeling on the window. I know you pros get somewhere around 2-3 dots of contamination per window, I get like 20, I keep practicing but im sure my technique could use refining. when I peel, I have the window down a half inch with the film hanging over the top a quarter inch, peel and spray so at this point overspray is not catching the top of window and rolling down on inside, I then spray inside and bring film in, I get some contamination at top but slightly more on the sides. as for my sides.... I slide hardcard against window edge and cut, thus having a little wider film than what you can see so theres no light gap, but this leads to two problems I have. 1 while top half is stuck and bottom is hanging before sliding behind gasket, I usually end up with small creases on the sides, and 2 I pick up those little dots although I wipe all around window several times durring cleaning to try to avoid bringing dirt in from the surrounding frame.

tonight I pulled gaskets on my girlfriends hundai tuscon and filed the top (my first file), looks good except it pulled a little more dirt than what I usually have at the top.

what can I improve on to get the dirt down? I spray my hands and try to pick up the film with the backs of my finger nails. I set the film on window, then push up to make microedge without going over top edge. the basics I guess you could say.

any help would be awesome, let me know if you need more detail in some areas or pictures

after cleaning, if you roll the window down again wipe off the top edge....as far as the little creases on the sides, try to let the bottom of the film curve inwardswhen setting the top. Don't squeegee too close to where your liner is that way there is a little play when you roll the window up. Hope that makes sense, much easier done than said....

And if you have any felt in your window runs, tape them off before you even start cleaning.

and this is where you'll get different opinions from everyone. Because SCT said don't let the film curl inwards, whereas I'm going to say one way I stopped the creases a long time ago was TO curl the film under itself at that point, with the liner peeled below it, adhesive to adhesive. Then, when you roll the window up, you just unfold/slide the film into the side, so its not rubbing on the frames, drawing in shiat.

I will have to try that technique... sounds interesting....it may work for me..

I guess I should have also mentioned my cleaning process before the peel. I scrape, clean, peel a corner to get it started, clean window again, do the 50/50 peel, spray film and window (trying not to spray near top edge and sides) then apply

any problems with this?

I have been tinting now for over 30 years and tried everything. This works the BEST. First make sure your film is cut completely before installing. Clean you glass as usual with window rolled up. Squeege bottom then roll down exposing top edge of glass. You must flush the top edge of the glass with solution before installing. The top edge of the glass will contain dirt. Spraying the glass with window down will allow that dirt to run down when solution is sprayed. Just spray heavy while running your finger across top edge of glass losening any contaminates. Now take an extra liner sheet from film and WRAP it on the pillar post edge. By sealing off the gasket on the sides this way, felt fuss cant get to the film. Its hard to explain, but literally takes seconds to do. Taping the edge really doesnt help, when you spray the tape can fall off. Your actually sealing off the pillar post gasket this way. Tehn spray, squeege and install as usual. If you want pics or video, I could get my son to do that.

you're not using that packet that comes in the film box for absorbing moisture in your application solution are you? :lol

Can you post a video on how to properly tuck the film and fold the film inward to prevent creases? I would appreciated it
