WASHINGTON — Solutia’s Performance Film Division, formerly called CPFilms, in Fieldale, will receive $356,591 for investment in solar control window film technology.

Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., announced Friday that the Henry County firm’s project been selected by the U.S Department of Energy to receive American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds to improve the energy efficiency of residential and commercial buildings, according to a news release.

Not for nothing, but isn't Solutia doing very well and buying other companies right now, why do they need tax dollars? And that amount seems like chump change for them, it doesn't make sense. :lol

Just playing devils advocate but if that money is earmarked for that purpose its going to be spent on that purpose. Why not have it go to the window film industry and not the glazing industry or solar power etc...

Not saying I agree with the process but I'd rather it went into this industry than another.

Or the government could just let us decide how to spend our own money instead of taking it from us and giving it to banks and apparently other people who don't need it?

Just a crazy thought. :lol :lol

That is small change compared to what other organizations were awarded.

Sounds like your issue is with the gov't not Solutia

I didn't say I had a problem with Solutia, please don't put words in my mouth. I said I didn't think they needed the money, and I don't think it's governments business to take money from the people to give to businesses that don't need it.
