Off this weekend for a change, taking part in the round the island yacht race, the biggest yacht race in the world! At present 1754 boats racing this year!! I live on the Isle of Wight just south of the mainland UK and the home of yacht racing. We have this race this weekend and then in August Cowes Week Regatta the biggest sailing Regatta in the world 7 days of full on racing!! Any of you guys race yachts? Crewing on a 47.7 foot yacht this year, apart from Cowes Week have raced in Rolex Antigua Week but the one I want to do is the Sydney-Hobart Race that is the next" tick" in the box as it were!

I've never raced, but I have sailed on various smaller boats since I was 9.

At one time I had 3 little sunfish sailers.

The biggest boat I have actually sailed was a 30 foot cat.

I still have the first sunfish I ever had. Thinking of putting the sail back on and going for a slow sail this season...

Yep he was with his son on the yacht "Bob" it was his frst day off since the explosion in the Gulf. Whats with the Brit bashing in the US press, the part that failed was installed by a US company and managed by them?? he and the uk are allies on many things I think yr president is trying to get good press as hes not popular over there at home?? Dont slag BP off now. How many years was it before the US president helped your OWN people after the hurricane a few years back?? And we wont mention an international gas leak that killed hundreds by a US controlled company in the indian sub continant a few years back :boogie

ill be the first one to tell you our govt sucks ass. As for the failed part that was installed, there should have been a checks and balances on it that BP made Trans ocean follow. Oil is gold here in the states and the sad thing is most of our govt has there palms greased by big oil, no pun intended. But unfortunately BP and Haywards face is all over it. I just dont think he should have been yacht racing in the public eye. Think he should have been a little more recluse. Thats bad press he brought on himself. As for the press britt bashing? I havent seen them bash anything but BP, and once again thats our media controling our ignorant masses. In conclusion, its just a touchy subject here, especially if you were born and raised on the gulf coast like me and all your family lives and works there. I geuss you just have to have it happen in your back yard to understand.
