Wooden frame or vinyl frame back door

Is there any descent way to secure 7mil film to a wooden or vinyl/plastic frame single pane back door? This is my house and wanting to figure it out. My guess is just using a bead of dow. Any suggestions?

Dow is really the only option. It will adhere to the paint or stain on the wood but who knows how well the paint is stuck on the wood, and wood simply not as strong as metal. Vinyl is a little better but the screw insert type of retainers in the door are pretty flimsy. Generally at least a 3/8" bead of Dow will help for a little while if there is a break in attempt.

If the glass is annealed it'll be okay without a bead of sealant.

Want added protection, sandwich the glass between two layers by installing on both sides.

Sun exposed, use PPF on exterior. :dunno

Remember.... the film is intended to slow someone down from entry.... If you attach the frame, no matter how flimsy.. you are still slowing someone down from entering.

HOPEFULLY the noise alone of smacking the glass several times to get it out will be enough to get someone to go away.

Good luck
