Guy got under my skin today, sort of GooberMT'd me. Came in wanting me to match someone else's price, then tried to BS me that we told him a different price, which had he played it right I probably could have fallen for, but he didn't. Here's a copy and paste from my rant.

I will fast forward most of the meaningless BS. Essentially a guy comes in to get a windshield done. My wife talked to him last week, gave him the price $175, he calls back, makes an appt. for this morning. So he comes in, I greet him, he ... See Moreasks the price. I tell him the price. OK, that is the short part.

He then proceeds to tell me "Another glass shop quoted me $100 for the windshield" to which I responded "That's awesome!", "Sounds like a great deal". He says it implying that I would match the price. I think my response threw him off so he asks "Why are they doing it for so much less?" I respond a bit confused I have no idea why they are that much less than me, but my price is my price. We talk a bit more, he says, "I thought the lady on the phone said $149." I explained that would be impossible because we round all of out prices to the nearest $5, not to mention she has it in her quote book and on the schedule for $175, and with the price of the windshield that was in line with the correct installed price. I explained that PPG glass is pretty much the best in terms of replacement glass and that one possibility is that I am a very experienced installer, I have been doing this more than 12 years, one of the chances you take is getting someone with very little experience.

I already knew he was irritated that I wasn't playing his game. I explained that my price is what I charge and what I feel the work is worth. He again asked, "Well' why are they so much less than you" To this my response was "I guess we see afterward. If they do it all well you got a good deal, if not, you got what you paid for." I think he was floored at my indifference, but to be quite honest I have never been one to compete on price alone. I keep my prices competitive with competition, but I am not going to try and compete with some business pricing themselves in to bankruptcy.

Anyways, the conversation ends with him saying he's not keeping the car that long and doesn't want to spend that kind of money on it. I say "alright, have a great day."

And where he GooberMT'd me on my Google page for Lomas Glass and Tint. I would be cool with him having a bad experience, hell it may help me going forward, but not after trying to BS me at the shop and then posting some 1/2 ass story.

"The lady I spoke to on hte phone was pretty nice. When I got down to their location for my apt I had a few questions on why they charged so much more than the other Auto Glass places in town. As a consumer I feel that is a fair question. I work for the highest priced Wireless... See More company in the nation and I can certainly tell you all about why they are the best and what you get when you pay for the best. My question-"What's the difference between you and the other guy?" The answer I got caused me to spin on my heels and never consider spending a dime with Lomas Auto Glass, Sean says to me" I guess you'll find out afterwards" Had he said, we warranty the work for lifetime of vehicle, cause we are the best in the biz and here's why, anything that would set them apart. But instead he chose to be rude. I'm sure they do great work but the way you treat people matters just as much."

So here I am all worked up about this crap as my Google reviews have been nothing but great until this guy who didn't drop a dime in my store wants to write a complaint. Eh, guess I just have to work that much harder to wash it out.

So I wonder what his connection is to the other guys? Maybe he is a plant the competition is using to torpedo you? Good for you for sticking to your guns.

Man, I wouldnt loose a nights sleep or anything. when I go to look for a company reviews online, I specifically look for the bad one, and when good ones populate, I consider that the best result. If I read a complaint, and its like the one that doucher posted, I can read that and see exactly what went down in the shop. Honestly if they told him cheaper somewhere else why did he even show up!?? Cuz he knows your the best, wanted the best, but didnt want to pay for the best. He thinks he is smart savy and smooth, and it back fired. He got his feelings hurt. Its like the guy who I kinda new, came in my shop with a brand new BMW 6 series. I gave him the buddy discount , and he proceeded to try and get me to tint it for $80.00. I told him it just wasnt possible. He went around telling all our acquaintances that I was trying to rip him off. ended up getting a young hack kid on the side to do it. Geuss who stripped it off and re did it...not me cuz I told him after what he did I didnt want to do business with him. Sooo my competitor did and and charged him $300.00.

Not everyone is a smooth negotiator, you did the right thing man.

It's the same thing as reading reviews on Ebay Sellers, If I see 200 postive comments, and only a coupla negative, I figure you can't make everyone happy.

Course, you take a cue from what he posted and use the years of experience, same location, etc etc as a postive point in the future.

So, the guy may have helped you out unknowingly.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it myself.
