Houston we have some heat - Tint options

First of all allow me introduce myself....Ethan in Houston Texas, just a humble and uneducated customer...

Second, I love this site and the true power of internet. Great contributors and lots of energy.

Third, I already spent a great deal of time reading so I will try to make my posts directly to the point.

Now to the business:

Background: I am Houston Texas, brand new house with double pane windows made by Champions. House is David Weekly with lots of green / energy saving features. Back side of the house is facing the direct sun from west, bedroom and formal family room, about 250 sq/ft worth of windows. Really hot after 3PM....

Goals: What tint should I consider for best heat reduction and yet best day & night clarity and no mirror kind of reflection? I don't care what it looks from outside as long it passes the HO requirements....What options do I have? It looks like ceramic is putting a lot of stress on double pane facing west so I think that option is out....Is it? Money is not an issue but I would like to get the best for my buck. When I said money is not an issue I don't mean is free lunch.... I may be uneducated but I am not stupid.... So what should I consider? Huper Optik? 3M (don't like the marketing excess), V-kool, etc, etc... I really need a fair and balanced option... I really do....

I think there is a Huper dealer from Houston on here and a Madico dealer. I'm sure they'll be in soon to help out. Both are great guys.

Thanks gents... I am not familiar with Madico so it looks like I have some home work to do. Done a lot of reading on Huper and 3M. Also a local shop quoted me a reasonable number for Sun-Gard Decorator Optivision 35 & 45 and I was wondering if the decorator Optivision line is the old stuff with problems or is a new line after the new ownership. Anyone familiar with this new Sun-Gard line?
