This was an interesting test, but PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

Shatter Safe Security Window Films DO NOT recommend the use of our window films solely for bullet resistance nor blast resistance without an onsite evaluation of glass, casements, mouldings and structure. All situations are different and please note that originally installed residential , commercial and vehicle glass will not/may not negate the effects of certain projectiles. All glass must be replaced with at least 1/2 inch (12mm) annealed glass as well as reinforced frames etc.

The following video is not designed to be interpreted as a "life safety system", only speculative renderings of scenarios. The video is for entertainment only, and any conclusions you make are of your own accord.

Best regards.

As witnessed.

Only one layer of 14 mil window film applied to the rear side of 12mm (1/2 inch) annealed glass mounted in a frame and allowed to cure for 30 days.

Of course the shots are placed strategically to minimize the risk of penetration. We all know even with bullet resistant glass, 2 or 3 carefully placed rounds will most likely penetrate.

Long firearms, yes... but as you noticed as well, small firearms were utilized with excellent results. A long firearm has a barrel of a minimum of 16 inches and clearly can be more powerful than a hand gun of which we utilized as well.

How do you do your testing?

Cheers

How many layers of film are applied? I seriously doubt that it has a single layer of 12mil or 14mil, with 2 layers I believe it, any good film will hold up to that. The shots are also placed strategically to minimize the risk of penetration. The usage of long firearms with those bullets is misleading... those are my observations...

Hey.. thanks for the tip!

We will try that on another demonstration but don't you find that adding one film on top of another can lead to issues with the glue?

Cheers

Al

Thanks for the info! We have made tests with 12mm glass + 14mil film, even though it does hold up pretty good, adding another layer of 14mil will give you better piece of mind, since some more powerful 9mm bullets will go through. We usually shoot with 9mm FMJ, .40 FMJ and .45 FMJ, none of them goes through with 2x12mil (or 2x14mil or 2x15mil) on 12mm glass.
