I am hoping you guys can help me out and I hope I am at the right place. I want to get some tinting done to my new car and can?t decide on who to go with. There is a place close by that cuts their tint with a computer guided cutter. Does that really do a better job? How can I tell if it?s a reputable company? Also, what kind od tint should I be looking at if I want a factory look? I don't want anything to dark.

Thanks in advance

I personally feel that I could cut a pattern better than any computer any day of the week.

How can I tell if it?s a reputable company?

Check to see how long the company has been in business. How much experience do the installers have. Ask to see some of their work. And ask for references.

Also, what kind od tint should I be looking at if I want a factory look? I don't want anything to dark.

What kind of vehicle are we talking about????

Well now... since this question comes from Reading, PA, and most of those on this board tint legal, the back window of the vehicle is all you can get tinted in PA that will be obvious. All side windows must not have a 'NET' (glass and film combined) VLT (visible light transmision) any lower than 70%. There are very few films that will meet this criteria.

Be wise in what you choose to do with your vehicle and remember these three things:

1. There is no warranty on illegally installed film... particularly from the manufacturer

and

2. Waivers are nothing more than an admission of guilt to breaking the law as it is written

and

3. If you have an accident you may find you are without insurance coverage because you are operating a motor vehicle that does not comply with the laws of the State.

I have to agree with these guys on computer cut. I am using computer cut now. not by choice though. only because the guy I work for has it. and allthough it does cut. some of the cars out beautifuly. some of the other cars come out like hell. and I would definatley rather use my own cuts. metint is almost right about the laws. but the current law is. any passenger vehicle 97 and up. can not be darker the 70% all the way around. including the rear window. unless it is a subura. because it is all wheel drive. it is technicaly considered a suv. stupid rule but what can I say. most tint laws are stupid. if your in pa call sydlin. ask for paul greco and ask him to recomend you . he will send you to a reliable shop . his # is 1800- 395-8468 or check the catolog of tinters on this site. you mayfind someon there

ditto , no computer cut. Computers are great and technology is something I use any time I can if it makes things better and faster but thats just not the case in this instance. :rollin

I know that I can cut a pattern better by hand than a plotter cause I have one. I can't cut it faster just more accurate.

Do you prefer one over the other?

If I am by myself I hand cut everything but if my partner is there I will computercut most of it. It just depends some cars I don't computercut.
