Installing the customer's film

I've installed film that customers bring in a few times over the years, but this one takes the cake.

I had a guy come in (whose windows I have already tinted) who bought some V-Kool film from his home country(Indonesia). He bought just enough to do his car and wants the whole thing done including the windshield with the V-kool. This would involve tearing off all the tint that I already put on his car,(35%) and replacing it with the V-kool which I have never installed on a car.

BTW, he paid $400.00 Just for the film. :poop

Would any of you take the job on? I'm not sure if I want to even try it. I under stand that this film is very difficult to shrink and I don't want any issues with ruined film.

He has a newer 4 door mercedes.

Just curious what you all think. Thanks for reading!

I don't install film that customers bring me. period. no matter what kind it is. but I really wouldn't do it if he bought just enough to do his car. if you mess a piece up, he's gonna expect you to pay for more film. I'd send him on his way.

the mere fact that he is a merc. owner that paid $400 for the film would make me send him down the road. As a rule of thumb I dont use film that customers bring to me...

but.....

I would price it first, to see if they are willing to pay for your time, if so, then maybe..... but this scenerio sounds like its setting itself up to be a war story for you, my friend.

have u priced him yet for the entire job?

Yeah, I think I agree. If he'd told me that he wanted that film, I might have tried to get some. But as it is, I'd feel like a prostinttute(:poop just thought of that) if I install it.

plus, I bet you a Grover Cleveland that he wont take into account the fact that you already tinted his car once when you re-price him as a new job......... he'll want a DEAL........... bet ya azz on that one..... Like its your fault that he paid 400 bones for his fkn V-Kool....... :poop

FX, I haven't priced it yet, because I told him I wanted to think about it for a couple of days. Hopefully he went somewhere down the road and found someone who would screw it up royally. In any case, I would charge him for removal, plus regular install price plus a PITA charge if I were to do it.

My policy is that if someone wants me to install their film they pay the same as someone else would pay for my film.

Right on that note, too, FX he has sent some friends to me over the past few months and they all want a discount because of it!
