Privacy film for condo

I am working with a design team in the construction of a new Condo building. The building is 23 floors and most of the units have floor to ceiling glass that is light green in color. One of the new condo owners would like to have a window film applied that would prevent someone from seeing in their unit during the day while still allowing them to see out. They don't mind if someone could see in at night if their lights are on. Two main factors I have to consider: 1. the film has to allow a good percentage of light to enter as this film would cover all exterior window surfaces and 2. the film's affect on the visual appearance of the window has to be minimal as a main part of the building's design is the amount and continuity of the green glass. Thanks for your help.

:thumb That is kind of wanting the best of both worlds,,,,,,if your customer wants the privacy then obviously something darker or more reflective would be a solution but if you still want a lot of light transmitted through the glass and not change the appearance of the glass then tint probably isn't the best idea. If you put anything on the glass, no matter how light, it'll always change the appearance of the glass minimally but in this case I would probably tell the customer to get shades or something :rollin

It might be best to go with a light Stainless Steel film or something comparable. It would allow plenty of light into the condo. It's not really considered a privacy film but what I've realized over the years is even if the film gives just a slight amount of reflection then people tend to look at themselves or the reflection rather than looking through the glass. But if you want the appearance to remain the same for the most part on the exterior you might have to go with a pretty light film----which means less privacy! :rollin I think in this situation....tintchick is right. You might be best going with blinds.....you just can't have a film installed that gives privacy but changes the outer appearance only minimally!

OK, I get your point. Say I went with something reflective. Can you recommend a professional product that would be reflective but at least not change the color of the glass. This might be the solution and they will just have to accept that their condo will be a little darker.

Since the glass is green and the film goes on the inside, the windows will always have a green look to them. It'll just be a more reflective green. A reflective 35% film would give enough privacy and still allow a decent amount of light into the condo. I'm looking right now...somewhere I have a picture of a building that had green glass that we tinted in Reflective 35%. I'll keep looking. Worst case...I won't be able to post the pic until tomorrow.

I'd say stainless steel might work also, you might even try silver also since the glass is already green :DD,,, best bet is to put a couple of samples up and go from there,,,

If they want privacy on a multi story building, installing a film won't help. Since you are only talking about a couple of windows, applying anything will darken them darker than the rest. It will give the building a black eye.

Install a pull shade made from film or the weave. They can raise it when they do not need it. A cake walk to install, profitable too.

if privacy is the main purpose, huper's price will be too high. a simple mirror tint will do the job. :thumb
