Alarms with remote starts

I got a kid who has a "Compustar" alarm on his Honda Civic. The alarm has an antenna on the windshield where a visor strip would normally go. After properly removing the antenna, covering everything, AS ALWAYS, I installed a 6" strip on the windshield. The next day the customer tolf me I screwed up his remote start on his alarm by getting the antenna wet. After speaking with the alarm installer, I found that this is not possible unless I literally dunked the antenna in a bucket of water. My question then is, Has anybody out there ever had an issue with a customer like this? If so, what were the outcomes? Any inside legal advice or help would also be appreciated, since the kid is suing me for the cost of a new alarm. Thanks for everything..

Sharing a building with a stereo shop I run into this type of situation all the time. In my situations it's because the film I use is metallized and blocks the signal to the antenna. Most times we've relocated the antenna. On my personal vehicle I had the same problem enough to the point where I moved the antenna out of the vehicle and behind the front grill. It works great now!!!!!!! :lol

try and move the antena or try the remote from inside the car!

if you only damaged the antena then you should only have to replace it! not the whole alarm!

how do you know this was working when he brought it in? trying to scam a new alarm on you!

The "brain" of the computer was supposedly fried from the water used when applying the tint

Very possible and valid assumption... there is a car out there (I think a Cadi) that has the brain behind the dash at the base of the windshield. :lol

Happens on my watch, for that... I am responsible.

That is how I conducted myself as a businessman. Its amazing how this changes the attitudes and the outcome.

most alarms are put right behind the steering wheel under the dash how could you get that wet while doing a visor?
