Hey guys. I've had three people coma in so far this week (and we're only wednesday) with tint that is peeling in the bottom corner of the front doors. Why? These are jobs my ex did and he's never had problems like that before ... we always took the door panels off...

1 Are these warranty jobs?

2 Is it the excessive cold we've been having up here like -42 C

3 Is it the gods of tint that are mad at me?????

This is going to cost me money if it don't stop.

Thanks,

Katherine

What kind of vehicles are these that are peeling? How long has the film been installed? And no, these are usually not warranty claims. Its usually an installation problem and the shop has to eat the cost. Some cars are prone to peeling more so than others.

one is a 98 chev silverado done this past september and the other is a toyota sienna mini van done last August. On both the door panels were pulled....

you know your reaching for our awnsers when you put your first name in the post Katherine!

you know I would think that this would be a warranty issue since its been 4-6 months and now there giving way!

check with you distributor or have the customers call the 800 # on the warranty card and see what the manufacturer has to tell them! if this was within a month I would say installer era, but 4-6 months maybe not!

It's 20% performx steel from Sunguard. I called them up and they said it is a warranty job but couldn't tell me why it did that . He tried telling me the tint wasn't far down enough but the panels were pulled on that one and the tint is 2 inches away from the very bottom of the glass inside the door..

Thanks for your help guys... I just feel like calling up the ex and blasting him.... No but seriously a couple in the same week and we've never had it cold like this up here yet...

Thanks

Neither one of those are problem vehicles and if the door panels were pulled then your ex would have been able to see the bottom edge to make sure it was sealed down. It may be a film/warranty issue. I would go with sprinter's advise and talk to your rep.

Good luck.

warranty them out, and make the customer happy!

you really have to wonder why they peeled unless your hubby left the bottom peeled up to p1ss you off one day if they peeled far enogh knowing he would'nt be there!

hey when you do them see if the glue is still tacky and if you can squegee them down!

Oh god I wish I could do that but see both customers decided they were going to try and fix it and ripped it in the process. One guy with the sienna brought in a piece in my office to prove it to me, as if seeing a big hole in the tint wasn't proof enough. And then I'd always be worried that it would peel again... I'll warranty them and look first at where the mistake was made then I'll let you know...

Another hypothesis: I think it is MDizzle formerly MDOG :beer who once told a customer that if they smoked pot in the vehicle it would make the tint peel. This van was tinted for narcs. Maybe just Maybe.......

I'd try mdog's excuse :hmmm who knows, maybe it'll work :beer

hope you get it worked out!
