I hate when this happens

Guy comes in today with a car he wants me to look at the tint, so I go outside and the tint looks like it has been on there for years. The back window is bubbled at the top and one door has about a 10" finger in it from adhesive failure, I ask him were he got it done and he says I did it about a year ago :lol He has no paper work receipt or warranty, and acts like he is pissed at me for not redoing the car. I have no idea if I even did the car plus I have never seen a film, 2 different shades off obviously 2 different rolls go bad that fast. Now in the slim chance I did tint it I need to know what film it is. I have gotten samples from about 6-7 manufactures last year. :lol

Unfortunately we get this on occasion. A while back one of the dealerships we did started handing out lifetime warranty cards from us, not even sure how they got a hold of them. Telling the customers that we held the warranty not them. The only thing they wrote on the cards was year make model, no VIN or who it was even issued to. Luckily at the bottom it says it is to be accompanied by receipt or the warranty is no good. But the customers are still pissed off. We try to explain to them they need to go back to the company they paid for the work I.e. the dealership for warranty. Even more reasons why we don't cater to dealers anymore.

No receipt or warranty no repair.............

exactly and how does this guy think acting pissed off will convince you to redo it.

He wasn't a total azz or anything but he said I can't believe you don't keep records of this and you could tell he was frustrated, but even if I was willing to dig through boxes and boxes of receipts all the important info is on the warranty card :lol

What I'll never understand is why a customer thinks a tint shop should be ANY different than going to any other store on the planet a year later without any paperwork in hand.

Yo ujust say I need your paperwork and a peice of the old tint to send to the manufacturer so you I can get re embursed..why should the tinter get screwed for the redo if it's film failure. That's what paperwork is for :lol

well this isnt happening to me..

im on computercut and I keep a inventory of all the lot numbers I use and computercut tells me what day, time, and car was cut....this has been a life savior since I have all the info on a datta base at computercut. I also have quickbooks to keep track of all the reciepts that customers are suppose to place in the manual/glove box of the car...

I get to tell people sorry its in neither datta base, so somebody else must of tinted it... or your in the datta base and your more than welcome to leave the car, to have the whole car redone...im not a one window type of guy!

I see us all do this as a type of film management, seems to work great at my shop and it cost like 10 more bucks a month...so one warrenty job pays for it...

My Daughter runs into this all the time at Wallyworld.

One Customer Pizzed cause they had no receipt, but insisted they bought it the week before.

Well, a 1 week old Lawnmower does not have a filthy muffler and air filter, the higher ups had to turn the Customer away.
