So Proline Styling is in my dealership today. They are training an in house guy. It is a one week course. Has anyone heard of a one week course working? They also sell film,PPF and a windshield film protector. Any insight?

Never heard of them. But do yourself a favor and gear up for more of this. The economy is making dealerships cut cost anyway they can. Sorry to say this is an ugly trend that has the very bad habit of repeating at more of your dealerships. Hang on for a bumpy ride. This has happened to me 3 times in the last 5 years and 2wice in the last 18 months.

These guys are "bottom feeders". If the guy they train has any talent, it will work. But the odds are against it.

windshield film protector.

Thats all I know they sell. They were in my shop for 3 days. Pre shrunk windshield skins. Pretty cool stuff and with a better warranty then clearplex.

it seems like with all these fancy windshield protector gimmicks that different companies have, it doesn't make financial sense. I know with my car when I just replaced the windshield it was easier to just pay the $155 cash for a PPG OEE one from a glass shop than to go through my insurance since we have a $250 glass deductible. I would think that for what a "solution" like this costs, you're better off saving your money and just putting it towards a new windshield in 6-7 years when you have it crack, rather than spending however much the install costs every 2-3(not sure on the warranty of the product). My car lasted 8 years on the original windshield, and just cracked.

I have full glass coverage...... :lol I dont need the windshield stuff either.

I have "full coverage" but for windshields it has a $250 deductible, because in my family among all our cars we hardly ever replace anything. No cars get broken into around here, and my dad and brothers lease their cars, while my mom and myself own ours. My mom just traded in her windstar through CARS for a new edge and that van was 10 years old on all its original glass. It keeps our premiums a lot lower with the deductible a little higher.

In over 30 yrs of driving, only replaced 2 windshields, 1 was bad when I bought the car, and had to get it replaced.

The other was so many years ago, I can't remember when it was, but have had a couple repaired when a small crack showed up.

Only cost 40 bux and a free car wash as well. It was at a full service car wash.

it may depend on the state, but these days at least in MI if you have glass coverage than you can get your chip fixed for free no matter where you take it
