it for sure depends on the producer if the film, you should be able to get the same life time as the tint that you install, I say at least 5 years.

Film will not turn dull as long as you wash and wax the car at regular intervals. Regular, in my opinion is washing it at least once a month waxing the shield at least twice in a year should keep it nice and shiny. It really is common sense, any film will look terrible if you don't take care of it.

I'v seen cars that I'v done 10 years ago that still look good. These people have a garage and take care of thier cars.

Be careful with using any old wax. Many of today's paint waxes contain petroleum distillates, such as kerosene. These have a chemical reaction with polyurethane films that cause yellowing and dulling (basically, it opens the pores up, swallowing contaminants). This rings true for bug removers and drive through car wash chemicals as well.

Even the waxes that aren't harmful, aren't very effective, as they are made for specific surfaces (you wouldn't use windex on your carpet, so why use paint wax on your ppf). Give me a ring at (210) 678-3725 and I can get you a sample of our ppf sealant (works on all brands of film). It hardens when exposed to UV light, forming an additional barrier over the topcoat.

A regular waxing with a good quality Carnauba wax will keep most films looking great (once a month)

We have seen that those customers that wax the cars on a regular basis will end up with film that looks great years after install (most films)

Swissvax Zymol etc do a great job, they need to be the hard waxes though not the pastes as Jeff has said above Paste waxes typically contain Petroleom distillates (Meguairs Gold Class is an example of this), these should be avoided.

This is good to know......now....my ppf is yellow on my white Tahoe. It is one year old and I do use a drive through car was because I just dont have time to hand wash anymore. I'm still trying to find time to give it a good old fashioned hand waxing soon, I hope to see if it helps.

To echo expel reply.. a good protectent.. and not using the drivethrough car wash will save any PPF or Paint job.. You should never use a car wash you drive through it takes all wax off of car,, now it is unprotected ....
