ok I am still trying to track Huper Select down but frankly I doubt I ever will succeed. as always nobody wants to carry the best product - its the same everywhere, not just in Tinting.

I mean Huper Select Drei - 99% UV rejection, 98% IR rejection - why would any shop want to carry a film that is perfect ? no they will give me an option of 20 different films all of which are garbage but not one shop will carry select. perfectly predictable.

anyway - is there anything similar I can start trying to hunt down ?

there is a russian saying that translates " the less you know the better you sleep " ... eh :(

Yeah most huper dealers don't carry the select drei line. It is a very expensive film to stock, but we carry it and it is because it brings the biggest profit margins. Sorry you are having trouble finding a dealer that carries and unfortunately I am in Texas. I just don't get why as a huper dealer one wouldn't carry it. The only thing that comes close to drei is ceramic 30. Your not going to find another brand that has a film comparable to drei.

That is a great film but I wouldnt focus on that 98% IR rejection. IR accounts for 49-52% (Depends on who you ask) of the suns energy. So even if it blocks 100% IR it is not blocking 100% of the suns energy from passing through the glass.

TSER - Total solar energy rejected is where it's at for comparison

I'm not saying it isn't a great film, just the marketing behind IR specs these days is misleading to consumers.

Misleading how? Maybe others are misleading but I just tell people that IR is only part of the equation but it is a part that traditional films don't address. It's an honest sales pitch and it sells the film.

A silver 20 film has a TSER of 78% +/- Since visible light and UV only account for 51% of that solar energy even the old school products handle part of that equation.
