Day from Hell

Bad day in the tinting world...

I had two large jobs to do. First I pinch a finger to the point of bruised fingernail on a door panel. Then, as I'm pumping my sprayer, my hand slips off the handle, and I punch the top of the bottle. I can handle a little pain, but it's cold in my shop when it's zero outside. Things seem to hurt worse when it's cold.

Just when I am installing the rear on the first job, my heatgun dies. I guess it was dropped off the bench one too many times. Actually, I've had a piece of the plastic case rolling around inside for awhile now, and every once in a while it hit the fan and made a noise. I thought that was the problem, but apparently the noise I heard was an electrical spark.

It was a good excuse to get a new Milwaukee. But I had to send the hubby. The first job got finished without it, but due to the delay, the second job took until 11PM. I think that this was the first time I worked past 9PM in three years!

Sorry, just sharing an awful experience that we probably have all had at some point in our careers.

You got that right TW.

I can't believe the force from the fan on the new gun compared to the old one. It kind of freaked me out at first, 'cause the fan was moving the film around on the glass more than the heat was. After the initial shock, it actually works a lot nicer that way, less moving the film around with my hand then!

:lol I never worked that long. I think I worked till 6 once. :) 8/9 hours of tinting is more than enough for me, actually, 6 or 7 is more like it. :rollin

lol OT. I am not a morning person, so I normally don't start until after noon. I would rather work late at night than get up in the morning. Still, two cars took ten hours due to the crap that happened. That's too long for the income that day.

10hrs for 2 cars is harsh, :hmmm happens though...I'm happy with 2 cars a day...3 is a bonus for me now...start at go to the gym at 7, work at 9 , end no later than 5,go fishing or surf the net(summer hr routine) :evileye

Just the opposite here! I just got a new heatgun and it is driving me nuts. The switch is backwards. Up is low and down is high. I think :nope, maybe I am having an OT moment :hmmm (J/K OT :nope)!! Maybe the heatgun is just fcked :hmmm

Yes they do. :hmmm Plus my hands don't move as good when it's cold so I'm clumsy. Even more painful things happen that wouldn't ordinarily. Maybe you'll get a break next week EO. A Neon on Monday would be nice. Or a couple of Dodge PU's. No slides. :evileye
