The Only Way?

One tint shop near me advertises this on their website.

There is only one way to fit tinting films that last - take the glass out, apply the film in a dust free environment using filtered water and bake it on slowly.

and

Glass removal means the glass can be filmed in a clean area away from the car. It is then cured and refitted into the vehicle ready to use immediately non of this 3 -4 days before using your windows.

they do a very good job and have been going for years but surely the ads are misleading, they cant remove ever back glass so really they are only talking about roll ups, so it cant be the only way to fit film.

Swings and roundabouts I guess as I get quite a few customers who don't want their glass removed and others who have found things leak

waste of time. theres no way they can tell me its better that way when I can get just as good, or most probably a better outcome than them. by the time they are done removing the door glasses, my job is done and im calling the customer...meanwhile, I didnt loose and screws, scratch and panels, ect ect... as far as baking it to where its ready to use...we can do that with the heat gun if we really wanted to. I would love to meet these guys and tell them to thier face how stupid thier procedures are.

Just a marketing ploy to justify sky-high prices is what I would guess.

Do they let Customers watch them to see this is what they really do ?

When I used to do auto, One of my glass shop custys would remove the roll ups before I got there, Im not sayin he had to but.... DAMN!!! was it nice. 4 roll ups done in 15 or 20 mins. There were some cases where I believe it provided a better end product. But for the most part it was just a convience.

I had a guy bring me his glass on time. it was nice and easy. but a couple days later the customer returned because his glass guy scratched and cut the film. so needless to say I made a good lick on that job.

I did a 65 Mustang this way. Final product probably turned out way better cuz I didn't have to worry bout contamination from the old gaskets or anything and was able to remove the metal trim on the quarters and rollups. I was way happy with the final product and I'm sure that the custy was just as happy with it also!!
