Thanks for the tip on the search feature. I did use it and searched Sun Gard. I read lots of press releases and hopes for a better film. Looks like they may be trying to provide better quality film. Who knows? I have a 20' x 40" roll of Shadow line to try.

I'm willing to pay for better film, because I want to provide quality work that lasts and a profit to myself. I just haven't found all the answers yet from here on which film is best. I may have to try them all to know for myself.

I read that mmm is hard to work with and expensive(I've seen a price list)..then LuLu is about the same. Then there's Hanitatek, Enpro, SolarGard(which I've heard pretty good things about...price range is middle of the road) and I'm sure there's others that I haven't heard of yet.

I have ordered tools. A list given to me from a tinter a couple hundred miles from me who will talk tint with me and would teach me for a fee, but I don't know him personally. For one day with him, I could buy two rolls of film which might serve me better than learning his method, which is probably great, because he has a great reputation. Obviously there are many methods and I have to learn what works for me. I'm in the process of setting up my shop. I have a couple of good pieces of tempered glass (an old sliding glass door $10) In a couple of weeks I should have a clean place to practice, then I'll be asking method questions. So look out for more from me.

If anyone offers mentorship, please contact me, but I'd rather spend my $$ on film than on airflight tickets to go get two days worth of who knows what that will cost even more $$. Looks like hands on practice is the best teacher.

I can see that this is an ART ... not just an "anyone can do it job". And from many of the posts I read here, there's a huge vault of expertise. I'm here to learn. And I have a huge amount of respect for everyone here. I don't think the number of posts each member has is a true refection of their expertise. That simply shows that they love to post their input. Some are value adding to people like me ... other posts are just making faces and adding to their numbers of posts. Either way is fine and I love to read them all. I always get up from the PC with something learned. Peace. :thumb

Enpro is not a film. They are a distributor of Madico films. Glad to see a search user though. I still use it quite a bit.

Enpro sent me a distributors kit...is Madico good film?

I think so. They were founded in 1903, started making foil and wrapping paper (which was under the name of Hysil). In 1966 they decided to make a transparent "foil" with adhesive added to it and voila, Madico window films. I have been using Madico for almost 7 years exclusively. I tried other films in between using Madico on and off. I have never had a warranty claim for flat glass or automotive as of yet. There is another member on this site that has been using Madico films for 16 years, and only had an occasional glass breakage claim, but NEVER a film failure claim. I do think, however, Madico could be making more competitive films to compete with Huper and some MMM films. MAC film (Madico Advanced Ceramic), while a good film, just isnt what it could be. Huper whoops it bad, and Madico doenst manufacture the MAC line. Then again, Huper doesnt manufacture any of their films, nor does VKool.

What is a distributor kit?

The kits I have recieved are sets of samples, and lots of brochures, etc. One company sent me a sample roll of film, while another sent me a T-shirt. One sent me a lil chisler. Some cool sets of info. Some are very generous.

I work for a Madico distributor. he owns a truck accessory shop and I'm the tinter there.

I've been using their film for 9 yrs (approx.).. its pretty good stuff. the dist. I work for has a good deal.. as long as your buying film from them, they'll train u for free.. (IIRC)..

the G.M. does the training.. and he has a guy up there in the training room at least once a week.. sometimes he'll bring them down to work with me for a day as well. :spit..

PM me if I can be of any further assistance. Tennessee is in a different area than where we're at. we service the midwes.. going as far south as southern illinois and indiana... kentucky and tennessee are different dist.

hope this helps
