heat gun sweating for bg removal

Hi everyone! This has probably been mentioned before since everyone here is a jedi tinter :evilgrin :evilgrin :dunno but if you have a removal to do and it is a cool day you can use your heat gun to heat up the back glass on the outside causing the film to "sweat" off of the glass. Use your liner/trash bag as you normally would and instead of using natural heat from the sun, use your heat gun instead. Obviously you can't heat the whole glass at once but you can work in sections and have it off in no time. It's been a lifesaver when I have had to do a removal and cant reschedule because it is not hot outside. With severely blistered film this technique can help to reduce some time on the removal but you will have to get the glass fairly hot for an easy peel removal.

Same idea only quicker, I use a 45,oooBTU Colman propane heater ..when done carfully and heating the back glass evenly, you can blister it off in 5 minutes tops when used with bagging :evilgrin

Thats awesome guys. Ive thought about using stronger heating elements but even now I am paranoid about using such items as they may be too strong. My biggest concern when it comes to tinting is that I dont want to ruin or blemish anyones car in any way whether it be heating, cutting of seals, or anything like that. I'm always looking to save time on removals though so I'll definitely look into a stronger heating element and use extreme care when handling it :evilgrin

The key for sure is "caution" of not blowing out a back glass window or pooching the paint /trim. I've done quite a few with great success and no damage to cars with great savings of time..but you REALLT vwant to know your heating element and keep the glass evenly heated..you can actually see the tint bubble and the garbage bag start to melt. The best advantage of this method is I've done it on the worst possible tint where its so far gone and the tint wants to separate into layers and come off in many little peices, it wont happen when "burning" it off :DD

or you could just buy a steamer. rain shine snow tint comes right off most of the time removing glue as well.plus theres no sweet waiting time

I have a jiffy steamer and I like it but to me it is slower going with the steamer and with severely blistered film it still comes off in layers and very small pieces.

:evilgrin steamer doesn't work on old blistered film, it still just cracks & comes off in pieces. You need way more heat than that, I've heated with 2 heat guns before & it works but still takes aaaaaalong time
