Anodized Gold dual pane Solarium

Recommended Posts

Customer wants high heat rejection film on Gold Mirror [Anodized] dual pane Four Seasons style windows. They are high quality units with no blown seals and has a cooling problem in the summer. I have used lulu R20 in the past on clear or lightly tinted units. These are the darkest solarium windows I have seen. Any tips from the flat glass pros.....

ask your film rep lorenzo there the one that has to warranty it bro :lol2

I figure an R35 Bronze... all the glass is waterfront with no obstructions. Never had problems in past with high reflective silver 20 %. We are seasonal with hot temps.

definitely go with a bronze, even a 50 has some pretty high numbers. You could also go with a more expensive ceramic film that is lighter.....

I have figured that high R Type films reflect more heat rays and neutal/R ,cerms, and IR absorb a bit more into the units.

how could film not help much? if a film blocks 80% heat then it blocks 80% heat right? :gayfight

It would seem that way but in reality it is not so. If the glass is already performing very well then the film's solar energy rejecting is proportional to the performance of the glass. Compare clear 1/8th inch film specs to clear 1/8th IG specs, the TSER is lower and that is on clear glass. Now imagine it on performance glass... a similar thing happens.

First you need to look at the performance of the existing window unit before you determine which film works best.

Vclimber is correct, it is quite possible the film will not perform well. You cannot assume the film will reject the number listed because this window unit is rejecting a fair amount of heat now.

Installing bronze would not be a good idea because it is absorbing and this could cause a glass issue. Even 20% silver would not be a good idea because of heat build up. People assume 20% silver can be installed on anything, not true.

First you need to look at a film to glass chart and determine what films do actually fit this need. I am going to give this an educated guess since I do not have one with me and say a 50% film would be about it. Anything more agressive would create glass issues
