I did a paint protection on a vehilcle about a year ago and the customer is wanting it warranted because the film has 2 one inch tears in where something has impacted it. I informed them it would not be warrantable and the customer got very upset and started calling diferent manufacturers and claims that 3M will warrant that kind of damage. Has anyone ever heard of 3M warranting these types of flaws.

Also the film has faded to a grey color and the customer also wants it warranted. Is there anyway to clean the grey sedement out?

if it were me.....I would warranty it for the discoloration, but not the damage from road debris. too bad it discolored. we can't control where they drive or what kind of conditions they drive in. tell 'em they should feel lucky that they only have to replace the PPF instead of having to pay for a new paintjob.

EXACTLY!!! The PPF did its job. No warranty on tears. The discoloration might be an issue, but I doubt it.

No its venture but she is saying that I should warranty the rips because she called 3M and if she had had them install it they would warranty it.

also just as a side note it is a white car so the discoloration is not the film turning yellow but sedement from the surroundings it has been exposed to. It would also probably help if should would keep the vehicle better maintained every time she has brought in for me to look at it is always dirty

Keep us informed on how the MFG. handles this situation. I am curious if current co. will still back pre buy-out film. :evileye
