Decals Lamination Questions

Hiya All,

I'm making decals to be applied to forklifts. My question is which laminator should I buy? I have a 24" plotter & a 24" cutter. Also, I need to have adhesive on the back of my vinyl decals. The vinyl that I have does already have the adhesive backing but would I be better off getting a laminator that will laminate the front & apply adhesive on the back? If anyone has suggestions or want to share their nightmares & successes, I'm all ears.

It's just my worth. You don't need any laminator if you're using decent vinyl. Most of my vinyl last at least 5 years, but has been known to last longer. The adhesive on the back of the vinyl will hold up. You can by vinyl that is guaranteed against fading, cracking and peeling for 9 years, if you're willing to put out the cash for the project. If you are going to be using printed graphics I would recomend lamination. I use a gbc laminator they are all hard to load and unload. I use oracal 290 lam for wraping vehicles and a 210 or 215 for flat stuff. Ask your dealer for a brochure on different lams. If you are just using ploted vinyl no need for a lam. But I would recommend using at least a gerber 220 series or an oracal 651 or 751 series. always use the vinyl that has the adhesive already on the back. If you don't have a printer don't worry about getting a laminator yet get the printer first!
