Hello,

I apologize if this question seems redundant to you and has been asked many times before, please bear with me.

We want to expand into vehicle wraps and I am clueless as to what equipment is needed compared to what the salesman is trying to "sell" me.

my questions:

1. what width is the reccomended printer size? will 48" be sufficient or will I be kicking myself later for going cheap?

2. what brand is reccomended and what should I stay away from?

3. is using a laminator the standard?

4. does the printer usually come with software or is this usually bought seperate?

5. Where would be a good place to start looking for a printer and equipment?

6. who sells vehicle templates and 3D software that one can use to preview the job for customer approval before the work s done?

uhm....thats it.

thx for any info

joey

hi, thanks,

We were hoping not to spend more than 15k or the

equipment/software needed for vehicle wraps.

is this do-able?

hmmmmmm.......... if you buy used you might do it. Biger is better! I droped 50G on my stuff but the payback is working out great. Don't go with less than 54 inch on your printer. Check out the Roland SP 540, I think you might find some good deals on that one since the new XC pro came out. Check out the forum at signs101.com. Lots of info but kinda pricks for regulars. :headbang

You're gonna be hard pressed to do it for that, unless you get lucky on some used equipment.

This guy had some for sale recently...Classified Ad

Both of these are good machines...

I would have to say:

1/ Dont know whats reccomended but I have a 54" and I wish I went bigger.

2/ Stay away from anything you can get for only $15,000, seriously

3/ Lamanating is an upsell, but we almost always laminate

4/ Software come with it but you need to upgarade majorly. and vehicle teplates also cost a nice chunk

5/ Agood place to look is fellers IMO

6/ I use bad wraps but I know there are others just google it.

Good luck and I would say $30,000. is a more realistic figure for the cheaper side of the industry. :spit

Bad wrap is a great tool. I can’t think of a better one to use in design and to show the custy what it will look like. The price is steep but that is the way it goes with large format printing. Fellers is the best hands down :lol2 …… check out this link on my website for a interview with Frank Fellers and with Gator Wrap in Vegas. SEMA news :lol2
