Clear Plex windshield protection

Just wondering if anybody is been using this product? the first sample I received. I installed it on my own car and was not too impressed it had some distortion in the material. The manufacturers said they were going to rectify the problem. If anyone is using this product at this time. I would like to know what you think of it.

I think this product would be a great addition to a window tint shop especially for high-end vehicles I know they would be willing to spend the extra money to avoid having to replace a chipped or cracked windshield

Yes, sometimes there are a few mystery bad spots in the film.

However, I find most distortion is caused by lack of squeegeeing. If you leave a bit of water somewhere it tends to leave an impression even after it dires.

I have the gen2 product, apparently gen3 came out right after I got mine. Gen2 lasts about 6 months in Minnesota. Hopefully the next roll I get lasts longer.

But it has saved my windshields plenty of times.

I'm to the point now where I'm shying away from installing it on customers cars. No one wants to pay big bucks to have this stuff all scratched up in 6 months. Who's going to pay to have it done twice a year when if they have that much money they obviously have full glass coverage on their cars.

It's IMO, a more commercial product. Delivery companies, gravel companies, etc. You know, places that break a lot of windshields and obviously insurance won't cover it.

I have benn using it for about a year now. After about 7 months it bacame cloudy and really hard to see out of. But it will protect the windshield from cracks and chips. I had it on my F150 and I drove directly behind a sand and salt truck and it just pitted the film.

I'm with Dan. I have it on two of my vehicles and it works great!

Yet you're right, it is a bit expensive for the average vehicle. Especially if they have to replace it after eight to 12 months. It does have a one year warranty, though. So if the manufacturers willing to pay you to replace it wouldn't be such a bad thing.

On a very high end vehicle though. Even with insurance to replace the windshield. I sure wouldn't want that factory windshield, coming out

I dont think it would sell very well down here..florida law is you can have your windshield replaced at no charge once a year....your insurance pays for it...but I still wouldnt mind testing it out.
